About Calm Within

A place for the parent too.

Calm Within was created from a simple belief: when a family needs support, we shouldn't forget the person doing so much of the caring.

Parenting can bring enormous love and joy, but it can also bring exhaustion, uncertainty, frustration, guilt and moments when you simply don't know what to do next. This can be especially true when you're navigating additional needs, neurodiversity, difficult behaviour or a family situation that feels different from what you expected.

But you don't need to have a diagnosis or a particular label to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes you simply need somewhere to pause. Somewhere to talk. Somewhere to make sense of what's happening. Somewhere to find your next step. That's why we created Calm Within.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you can feel calmer.

Meet the people behind Calm Within

Janet Jacobs, founder and coach

Janet Jacobs

Founder & Calm Within Coach

Janet brings a calm, practical approach to coaching. She has a natural ability to help people step back from the noise, make sense of what they're experiencing and identify realistic ways forward. Rather than telling parents what they should be doing, she focuses on listening, understanding and helping each person find what works for their own circumstances. She believes that small changes can make a meaningful difference, particularly when someone has been carrying too much for too long.

Ciska Botha

Calm Within Coach

Ciska brings a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental presence to her coaching. She understands that parenting can sometimes involve uncertainty, emotional exhaustion and the feeling that you're constantly trying to work out what your child needs while also trying to hold yourself together. Her approach is centred on creating a space where parents can be honest about what they're experiencing without feeling judged. She believes that supporting the caregiver is an important part of supporting the whole family.

You don't have to carry it all on your own.
